Sweet Sophie

on

Who knew that my sister Sophie could whip up bakery quality desserts? This past summer, Sophie took up a new hobby: baking! She spent time trying out new recipes at home with her cousins, and loved it so much that she signed up for a Sur La Table baking class at the end of the summer. Not only did she love it, but boy did our family benefit from this class as well. Every day, Sophie would surprise us with delicious desserts to sample. It was the highlight of the week. Even my dad, who typically avoids sweets,  couldn’t resist my sister’s mouth watering muffin. Everyday, I was more and more impressed. The funniest thing though, was that when my mom tried the first dessert, she immediately exclaimed, “Aww, that’s so sweet, Sophie!” Get it?

Here are some of the items my sister created at Sur La Table:

The mini fruit tarts. We never really get fruit tarts because they are too big. Sophie’s mini fruit tarts = problem solved!

Very moist ham and cheese scone. I loved the cheesy crust.

Morning muffins. These ones are my absolute favorite. They are so moist and flavorful.

Sweet cherry pie. This dish has the perfect balance between sweet and sour. It is also a great bite sized snack.

Carrot cupcakes with buttercream on top. These ones are extremely colorful and actually taste like carrots.

Celebration cake with lots of colors. I would call it a funky cake because it has so many weird combinations of ingredients.

If you want to know the recipes to these baked goods, please email and I will send them to you.
