I don’t know if you know this, but one out of ten people don’t have food in the bay area. In my school bulletin, I saw an opportunity to receive a grant from a company called Tutor Corps to fund a project that would help people in my community. I thought that being food insecure was a major problem and decided to submit an application for the fund. Though I haven’t quite received answers about if I “won”, I still feel like this is a really meaningful thing for me to do. Here is my plan:
- Research ideal food (cheap, nutritious, and convenient for food insecure)
- Explain the hunger problem in the Bay Area to families that I know
- Ask those families to match 50% of what I spend in money
- Partner with 1-2 organizations in East Palo
- Buy food and prepare packages
- Distribute the food to the organizations
- Ask the organizations if I made an impact

Let’s do this with or without the grant!
