My favorite restaurant

on

Randy Ching asked me what restaurants I liked and what foods I liked, too. I think this topic is interesting, so I hope everyone likes my post.

My favorite restaurant is called Masa’s. If you love Japanese food, which I do, Masa’s is a great place to go. Japanese food includes a lot of sushi, which is my favorite. One thing you can put on sushi is fish eggs. When I first tried fish eggs (it is not as disgusting as it sounds), I thought that I was going to throw up. Now, when I have fish eggs, I really enjoy them because my taste buds have changed. My favorite sushi roll at Masa’s is the Lisa roll. It features white rice, seaweed, asparagus tempura, sesame seeds, avocado, teriyaki sauce, and finally, seaweed salad. I learned about this delicious roll from Randy Ching. He always orders it because it is a vegetarian roll.

One other type of food I love to eat is salad. I don’t know about you, but salad is at the top of my good foods list, especially seaweed salad because it is such a unique one. When I was seven, I despised salad. After a while, I realized that when you include some of your favorite toppings, you can really enjoy a salad. Salads are also typically healthier than a sandwich or pasta for lunch.

I really hoped you enjoyed this post. Please comment back soon                -Nate Chen

Nate, thanks for the post! First off, it’s Uncle Randy to you. 🙂 I really enjoyed you post, especially hearing how you didn’t care for fish eggs and after trying them, you now like them! I’d love to hear a bit more about some things (maybe you can just comment to respond to my questions):

What makes Masa’s such a great place to go? I’m sure you’ve been to other Japanese restaurants — why Masa’s?

What do you like about fish eggs? I’m neutral on fish eggs. Don’t seek them out but I’m fine eating them.

Are there other Japanese foods that you don’t care for right now but you think that you might try again in the future (similar to fish eggs)?

One suggestion. Maybe you can start taking pictures (using your mom or dad’s phone) and then post them in future blog posts?

Keep up with the posts, I really enjoy them!

I’m surprised to hear you like fish eggs and the Lisa roll. What about the Crazy Roll or the Spicy Jack Roll or the Toilet Paper Roll (just kidding)?

Salad’s are great! I eat salads all the time. It’s all about the dressing. You can make any salad taste good with toppings and dressing. Remember, if you can kill it or pick it, you can eat it!

One more suggestion for your blog: you can google Masa’s restaurant, and then add the website link to the blog. That way your readers can easily find out more about Masa’s just by clicking on the link in your blog.

I agree with Nahan Chen – Masa’s is the only good place around here.

Masa’s isn’t the only good place! I know there’s no Yoshinoya’s around here, but what about Sumkia, Sushi Tomi, Fuki Sushi

Those places do not serve fresh fish, so the food is always so spoiled

  4. I love Masa’s too, it’s probably the best place in the Bay Area. Come to think of it, maybe the whole wide earth. Don’t you think it would be more fancy if they had those cool boats that float by with edamame on them?

I always want to go to those places, but my mom always says that the fish is not as fresh. Another cool thing I would want to do is try to fish out the edamame from the small boats with a fishing rod.

I think it’s too bad your Mom deprives you of this great joy. I have fished for edamame from a sushi boat with a fishing pole and it’s probably one of the top two funnest things I’ve done in life.

This is an awesome food blog you started. Sushi is one of my favorites, too. When you come to Hawaii this summer, we’ll go out for sushi, it’s Uncle Darin’s favorite as well. What kind of fish eggs do you like?
Ikura- big, juicy, orange, salmon eggs?
    Tobiko-tiny, orange eggs?
Tarako- tiny, salty, pink eggs in a sac? Sometimes it’s spicy.
If you like ikura, ask if they have ikura-zuke (zoo-kay) sushi. It’s marinated in a light sweet soy sauce. Yum! If you like tarako, try tarako spaghetti. It’s pasta sauted with butter, olive oil, slivered onions, and then tossed with the tarako eggs cut from the sac. Sprinkle with nori (roasted seaweed) Yum x 2!
