Mochi balls with ice cream

  •                 I thought that some people might be interested in desserts, so this post will be all about desserts. I am a really big fan of cold desserts, so one of my favorite desserts to have mochi balls with ice cream. If you are wondering what that is, it is a chewey flavored editable dough wrapped around ice cream, garnished with a a sweet flour. My favorite flavor is mango because I love mango ice cream! There are other flavors like chocolate, green tea, vanilla, strawberry, and orange. Every flavored dough has one of these flavors as well as the ice cream. The first time I had one, my mouth could not believe what it was tasting! Usually the mochi balls are really cold, so thats why love them so much. My mom says that you can get them at Trader Joe’s for a low price, so it looks like I am going to be at Trader Joe’s a lot this summer. I hope you get the chance to have one of these! Please comment back.               -Nate

Mochi ice cream is awesome. When your in Hawaii there is a great Mochi place in Ala Moana – not with ice cream but lots of other fun foods. Red bean. Fruits- you need to try those also.

My favorite is mango too. I think the quality of the mochi dough is important. Some are too thick and kind of sticky. I think the Mochi balls from Trader Joe’s are pretty good if you don’t keep them for a long time.

What do you like about cold desserts? I love cold things. But I’m not a mango fan so you can have my mango mochi ice cream. Bubbie’s in Honolulu has really good mochi ice cream.

    Hi Nate,

I don’t think I’ve ever had Mochi Ice Cream. Now, thanks to you, I know about it and will go out and try some today. Trader Joe’s here I come! I love Ice Cream so I am sure I will enjoy it. Please let me know of any other types of food that you would recommend.

Nice post! I’ve never had mochi balls before. Are they hard to make homemade?

I don’t think I’ve ever met a mochi I didn’t like, Nate! I love that stuff – my favorite thing about it is how it feels in my hands and how it melts in my mouth! YUM!

It was hard for me to think of mochi flavors because the main ones are just mango, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, and green tea.

Do you leave the mochi balls out of the fridge
    so that they can soften?
