Trail Mix: Healthy, But Tasty

Recently, I discovered a new healthy, yet tasty snack from Whole Foods. Here’s a flash back from Squaw Valley and of when I first really started to love trail mix:”Mom, what kind of snacks did you bring?” I asked right when my family and I arrived in Squaw Valley. “Veggie chips, Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies, Wasabi flavored snap peas, oh and some delicious trail mix!” replied my mom. “Yes,” I shouted. Right away, I started munching on two of the Whole Foods trail mix brands: Cape Cod (nuts and cranberries) and Blueberry Blaze (dried blueberries, nuts, vanilla chips and cranberries). Apparently, Whole Foods has many other delicious trail mixes.

There are a lot of good things to say about trail mix. Here are my top 5:

  1. Tastes amazing

Why: All the combinations are very carefully thought out, like a crunchy peanut taste combined with a sweet dried blueberry. This is the surprising, yet perfect balance for my taste buds.

Favorite: Blueberry Blaze trail mix

2. Comes in many different variations

Why: That’s how the product makers attract more people. Also, it is a lot more interesting this way.

3. Healthy

Why: Trail mix usually has nuts and nuts are very HEALTHY, but sometimes you can sneak in m&ms or Cheetos for an extra splurge!

4. Can be taken in the go

Why: No one wants to lug around heavy snacks and this snack can be eaten almost in every situation (exaggeration)!

5. Doesn’t spoil

Why: Every ingredient in the bag just doesn’t spoil. This is a go-to snack for my Uncle Randy when he camps.

That’s it for now, but if you taste all the different trail mixes out there, I’ll bet you’ll find a lot more amazing features!

Question: What’s your favorite combination for a trail mix?
