Coffee with the Chemex

Do you like to drink to Pete’s, Phil’s or Starbucks coffee? Instead of doing that every morning, my dad makes his own coffee! Using the Chemex product, he whoops out a whole cup of coffee in 15 minutes. I think that this is cool because not only does he grind the beans and heat up the water, but the device he uses is so simple.

Shaped like an hour glass , the Chemex drips precious droplets of coffee into the other side of the device. All you have to do is heat up water to your desired temperature and then pour it onto the ground beans. It’s actually a great morning activity while you read the news!

Making your own coffee from scratch (except for picking the beans) provides a fresh start to your day, literally. When made in a coffee machine, your drink could get mixed with other coffees made in the machine before yours. If you use a Chemex, all the flavors you want in your coffee will surely be your own! Also on the plus side, the Chemex is so quiet that you won’t get complaints about the loud ongoing noise seeping into your room at 6:40 A.M.

Even though I don’t currently drink coffee, I sure will keep an eye out for the Chemex in the future!

Here is an IMOVIE about the making of Coffee in the Chemex: IMOVIE

You and your dad are like scientists in the kitchen! I think its great you are experimenting with sous vide cooking and using the Chemex. Have you ever seen coffee made with a syphon?

I don’t think I have heard of a syphon, but it sounds like a new cooking style!
