How does it feel when you find a great healthy snack that is tasty as well? What about vice versa? Everyday at school for lunch, I get fruit and sometimes a snack.
Over the past few months, I have discovered a couple of new treats that can really boost your day, healthy or not. Here are the three categories my snacks fall into:
Healthy: Something that nourishes your body.
In the Middle: These snacks aren’t “bad” for you, but they do contain some components that are a detriment for your health in the long run.
Splurge: It is rare that I will eat these treats because they are considered “junk” food.
- Honey Roasted Peanuts (In the middle)
How about a mix of salty and sweet all packaged together in one little nut? Once you start, you won’t stop! Find them at Trader Joe’s! - Pickles (Healthy, although don’t eat too much of them) A snack idea coming from Graham, one of my best friends. Shout out to Aunty Eugeni for telling my mom where to buy them!
Is it salty, sweet, spicy, or sour? No one knows why the pickle tastes so unique and that’s why it is one of my favorite healthy items at school. - Salami Sticks (In the middle) Graham keeps surprising me……………. Aunty Eugeni strikes again!
Long, chewy, and tasty just like salami. These are currently the most popular item worth trading for at the 5th grade boys lunch table. Find them at Trader Joe’s. - Mom’s Surprise (SPLURGE)
My mom usually asks me what I want for my “fruit/snack” when we pack our lunches. The “fruit/snack” is 99.9% in the Healthy or In the middle categories. About once a month my mom surprises me with a yummy snack. These snacks can be anything tasty, so it is a real delight when I receive one.It would be great to add to our snack list. Please share what your favorite snacks are and which category they fall into. Happy Chinese New Year!
