First of all, I hope all of you had a great Mother’s Day (mother or not)! In my family, everyone except the moms makes breakfast, lunch, or dinner to give them a break. I don’t know if you think this, but my opinion is that moms are one of the hardest working people out there.
For this Mother’s Day, we actually tried something quite funny. Aunty Shelli and my mom (the moms) both love Korean food, but making the whole set (all the appetizers + entrees) was going to be way too hard. Basically, we ordered takeout from Tofu House (a great Korean Restaurant on El Camino Real), and messed up the kitchen to make it look like we made it. My dad put the Bulgogi Beef and Pork in a silver tray warmer and the Kalbi in another. My sister Sophie bought small party cups for the typical appetizers. We threw away all the trash, so there was no evidence that we bought takeout. The moms figured out our joke after 10 minutes. It was after my dad said we bought everything from Nijiya, which is really a Japanese supermarket…not Korean!
At the end of the meal, I actually thought that we prepared (or ordered) a great meal for Mother’s Day. Cake was also made for dessert. I feel like the moms really enjoyed the meal, so I guess I can say it was a Mother’s Day Magnifioso!
I know I wasn’t the only one preparing for a Mother’s Day Surprise, so I want to hear what you guys did, mom or not!
Funny!
Eric, Nijiya?! 😄
