Spicing It Up!

on

I’m sure that all of you have heard of the popular food trend, avocado toast. This product was first invented in the 1970s as a unique way to feature avocado on food. I don’t know what’s happened between then and now, but I can say that nowadays, everybody eats it. One out of every four breakfasts, at the very least, I devour an avocado toast. This food can be the perfect start of the day meal as it’s healthy (on wheat bread), filling, and exceptionally tasty!

So, I was thinking to myself the other day and I realized that a lot of toppings or garnishes might go really well with this new food. Imagine boiled eggs, or cold sautéed mushrooms, or feta cheese, even bacon! After a quick search on the web, I saw some images of amazing and ingenious ideas for enhancing avocado toast. For example, wouldn’t a Mexican style avocado toast with scrambled eggs and salsa sound good? In the following list, you’ll find five variations I would absolutely love to try:

  1. Mexican Tapatío Hot Sauce On Top
Who doesn’t use this product? It’s one of the most famous Mexican brands in the world. Avocado toast has a very natural and simple taste. If you combine that with the mild blaze of Tapatío, it would turn into a yummy dish!
  2. Mozzarella Cheese, Tomatoes, and Balsamic Vinegar
Tomatoes and avocado have always been pretty good friends. They come together on countless foods. Not only does this variation have tomatoes, but also mozzarella cheese! In the top right corner of the featured image, you’ll get a sneak peak at what this wonderful combination looks like.
  3. Feta Cheese and Almonds
I’ve always thought that something crunchy would go well with avocado toast. Well, it turns out that people are already on top of this idea with the feta cheese and almonds combo. The feta will give a nice kick to the meal and the almonds will provide a new texture.
  4. Boiled Eggs With Bacon Bits (or slices)
This idea is funny in the sense that I often eat boiled eggs with my avocado toast, but never thought to put them on top. In addition, I will eat bacon at any chance that I’ve got. It’s the classic breakfast food. This variation is just two of my favorite products thrown together on another one of my favorite items. Simple, but delicious!
  5. Honey
I’ve always been fascinated by the experience that can come out of a sweet and salty mixture. Avocado can very likely be considered a savory food because of how it goes with savory foods such as chips or salad. For me however, I think of avocado is more of a neutral food (neither sweet or salty). My uncle once made this molasses and avocado smoothie that really represented this vegetable in a sugary way. Seeing that avocado can be put into sweet dishes, I thought that it might be fun to try honey with it! Toast actually pairs very well with honey, so why can’t avocados?

I’m sure that at least a few of you have tried this simple food. I think that we all would be very delighted to hear some of your favorite avocado toast variations. Anyways, if you haven’t tried this item before, I very much encourage you to do so. And then after seeing some of the newest avocado toast variations, you’ll be wanting to spice it up!
