L’Eggo Your Eggos

I know what you’re thinking: “Seriously Nate? Eggos? I used to eat that when I was a kid!”

Here’s the thing: At Priory (my school), my sister and I often have to leave home early to get to band/choir in the morning. As our before school classes start at around 7:30 am, we are often rushing out the door in the morning. Usually we just eat something small like fruit or don’t have breakfast at all. Well, this week my mom was out of town, so to make it a little easier on ourselves we stopped at Safeway to buy some Eggos.

I know that frozen foods have a reputation of being unhealthy or “bad for you”, but still, you gotta love Eggos. Once you pop them in the microwave or toaster, it’ll only be about 1-2 minutes until you have a fresh, crispy Eggo waffle in front of you. Eggos literally go with anything. You can add your favorite fruits, syrup, whipped cream, peanut butter, and even some savory foods. It’s probably best if you don’t eat an Eggo every morning, but they’re an excellent option when you’re hurrying out the door. My sister woke up on Monday and asked what we were having for breakfast. Then we remembered the Eggos! If you take them to go, they can save you a good 5-10 minutes in the morning, which is sometimes exactly what you need. Of course there are healthier “scaling” choices. I’ve already thought of making avocado toast style Eggos or substituting honey for syrup. With these amazing easy to eat waffles, there are so many possibilities.

If you enjoy Eggos, perhaps considering commenting below one of your favorite combinations/topppings (PB&J, berries, etc). L’Eggo Your Eggos!

I want to give a shoutout to my teacher Ms. Wood for getting me interested in Eggos (through a long, interesting class discussion).

It’s one of Perry’s favorite things to eat in the morning, too. And it’s easy to make and eat 🙂
